Lighting technology is reducing energy consumption across campus. Solar cells in the Oculus sense the amount of light outside and alert the control system to dim the lights when the sun is shining. Around the campus, over 13,000 lights have been replaced with energy-efficient LED alternatives.
The World Trade Center’s Central Chiller Plant (CCP) is the biggest chiller plant of its kind on the East Coast. It harnesses cool Hudson River water to conserve energy in providing chilled resource needs for infrastructure and buildings across the campus.
